Architects

Why should you use an architect?  In today’s society of the handyman and “I can do the project and save some money” has lead to many stories of substandard work and a pending lawsuits.

Architects bring expertise to the table, in a field that they have trained for, and have been trained in, all of the small details that a novice will not notice until it’s too late.

Architects are going to cost a lot of money!  Architects can and will cost as much as you, the client will or can pay for!  NO, that is not the reality.   Architects do not want to design something that their client cannot build.  Architects true joy comes from seeing the project to completion.

You have to be honest with yourself and your architect about your budget, your desires and your comfort level.  All projects will have design changes and the more detail you can provide to your architect in the initial conversations, the less times your architect will have to go back to the drawing board.

Information is key to having a good healthy relationship with your architect.  They must know what you want before they start to design for you. Do you like contemporary, traditional and or eclectic styles? Do you prefer wide open spaces or individual sitting areas?  How is your area going to be situated in relation to the sun rise and setting.  Do want a fireplace, gas or logs?  Do you want a swimming pool?  Are you going to do laps or lounge?  So you have small children and any children?  Do you entertain, if so how many guests do you entertain?

These are a few of the many questions that are not only helpful but will make the project move faster, with less guess work and a more accurate completed design.  Most importantly, a design that you will be proud to build and your architect will be honored to have created and seen to completion.
