Stone Terraces, Flagstone Patio’s, New Deck and Porches
Crystal Pools has always been known for our quality swimming pools. However, we are the best kept secret when it comes to stone patios, Flagstone terraces, stone fireplaces, paver installations and just about any outdoor accessory that you might need.
Who designs outdoor kitchens? Is it an indoor cabinet person? Well certainly some of this applies to the outside right? In general terms, sort of, that is not a very convincing way of making a statement. In fact almost everything is different outside.
First of all the elements, nothing is protected, it is subject to just about everything that Mother Nature can mix up and that is quite impressive. So your installer has to have worked in the elements and understand how they affect the surroundings. Who better to do this then a pool builder that has been subjected to these elements for 39 years!

Crystal Pools knows how to lay out the kitchen for the chef. Are you right handed or left, how tall is the chef? what do you cook?, do your friends help you cook?, how many guests do you generally have?, these are just some of the questions that need to be answered prior to a kitchen design being started.
How does the exterior of the cook center meet the appliances? Is it stacked stone or mosaic stone? What color grout will you use? How much grout does the client expect to see? What happens to the natural stone as opposed to the imitation materials, and why would you use one over the other?
When it comes to your patio, or raised terrace how are you going to construct it? Crystal Pools engineers every aspect of our work with the best long term solution available. Does the wall have a footing, what is the size of the footing, is it steel reinforced? Does your terrace have drains in place to remove unwanted water? Where are the drains going to stop and what materials are being used to make sure the drains do not leak over time? What are you back filling the terrace with gravel or fill? If you are using fill is the contractor tamping the fill every 6”? Are piers being installed in wide expanses in the terrace? If not, why not?
If your terrace is going to have stone on top of it, what is the base for the stone? Is it concrete? How thick is the concrete? Where are you pitching the water? Do you have expansions in the concrete? How far apart of the expansions? These are all integral questions that should be supplied to you by your installer, if not you need to stop and take another look at your Flagstone Terrace installer.
Stone installers have specialised crews that understand rock and how it will work in a certain situations. What stone will provide the best result and will functional long term.
